Emergency Assistance for Irish Citizens in Switzerland

The Embassy of Ireland in Berne operates a weekend out-of-hours service for Irish citizens requiring emergency assistance in Switzerland

If you need emergency assistance over the weekend, dial the Embassy switchboard at +41 (0)31 352 1442. The mobile telephone number of the duty officer will be available on the answering machine.

Alternatively, you can contact the 24-hour duty officer in Dublin at +353 (0)1 478 0822.

Note: This service is strictly for emergencies only. Queries or requests that can wait until normal office hours will not be entertained.

Loss/Theft of Passport
If your passport is lost or stolen, contact the Embassy as soon as possible. You must also go to the nearest Police Station and make a report. Keep a copy of your statement to the police as you will have to submit it with your application for a new passport.

If your passport is lost or stolen a police report is accepted by some airlines in lieu of a passport, but always check with your airline before going to the airport. If your airline will not accept the police statement, the Embassy can issue you with an Emergency Travel Certificate.
